Performance
When I saw the Ford by Dahon Taurus 2.0 for the first time, I immediately found it familiar. It has a very similar design as the Dahon Boardwalk and this is like an upgrade of the bike. Ford released two different versions of the series, which are Taurus 1.0 and Taurus 2.0. The only difference between the 2 versions is that the Taurus 2.0 is equipped with a 7-speed drivetrain while the 1.0 version is a single-speed folder.
The Taurus 2.0 is quite heavy and bulky after being folded. This is understandable because it uses a steel frame, Shimano derailleur and includes all accessories like fenders and a rear rack. The total weight of 32 lbs is obviously a huge disadvantage of the bike, it is among the heaviest 20-inch folding bikes I’ve ever reviewed.
Although the Taurus has 7 speeds, it doesn’t offer significantly faster speed than the single-speed Dahon Boardwalk. You won’t be able to see the difference when riding in the city and the derailleur even makes the bike more cumbersome. On the other hand, the Taurus has a much better design and build quality. I can see that the bicycle has a sleeker look and the frame is also much sturdier.
Conclusion
Pros
- Good design and build quality
- Low price
- Equipped with essential accessories
Cons
- Heavy and bulky
- This is not a fast bike
The Ford Taurus 2.0 is a decent 7-speed folding bike for the price and it gives you another choice in the low-budget market.

I am curious as to how it compares to the Schwinn Loop 7. I am currently weighing on whether or not I should one or the other. Can you help?
